About

Design Week is a British publication dedicated to the design industry, covering a wide range of disciplines like graphic design, product design, interior design, and digital media.

Established in 1986 by Jeremy Myerson at Centaur Media, it has played a pivotal role in documenting and influencing the evolution of design in the United Kingdom and beyond.

Initially launched as a weekly print magazine, Design Week quickly became an essential resource for professionals within the design community. It was renowned for its comprehensive coverage of industry news, insightful analysis, and in-depth interviews with leading designers and creatives. The magazine provided a platform for discussing emerging trends, technological advancements, and the socio-cultural impact of design.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Design Week expanded its reach and influence. It became a hub for networking within the industry, often featuring upcoming talent and pioneering projects. The publication was instrumental in highlighting significant design movements and fostering a sense of community among professionals.

In 2011, responding to the shifting media landscape and the rise of digital consumption, Design Week ceased its print edition and became an online platform. This allowed for more immediate reporting and interactive content, such as multimedia features and real-time updates, and enabled Design Week to engage with a global audience while continuing to serve its core UK readership.

The online publication has maintained the magazine’s legacy of excellence, offering a mix of news, opinion pieces, project showcases, and career resources. Design Week also launched various awards and events, recognising and celebrating innovation and achievement within the industry.

In 2024, Liverpool-based web development agency Interconnect IT bought Design Week, rescuing it from closure. It continues to adapt and evolve, and remains a respected voice in the design community, committed to supporting professionals and promoting the value of design in society.
