Government on enterprise

The government aims to raise the UK’s productivity levels to the best in the world under proposals announced in the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s pre-budget report on Tuesday.

Chancellor Gordon Brown says: “We also want to close the productivity gap which needs high levels of investment and entrepreneurship.”

The Chancellor will also cut capital gains tax and introduce a 20 per cent tax relief for large companies investing in smaller organisations.
