The federation of small businesses is launching a video guide to dispel myths surrounding the Small Claims Court.
It aims to show how businesses such as design consultancies can settle legal claims cheaply and easily using the New Civil Procedure process, which came into effect at the end of April.
FSB policy unit chairman Brian Prime says: “The majority of businesses are unaware of the reforms. The new system, with the judge rather than lawyers calling the shots, means access to justice will be available to more businesses and consumers.
“The small claims process is an important tool for small businesses, with many taking a claim to court because of money owed as late payment. ” he adds.
