Design cashes in on railways

Design consultancies are reaping the benefits of rail franchises changing hands and commissioning new identities, say transport designers.

But they warn that the rail industry remains uninformed about the important role design can play, and are calling for longer franchises to allow for identities to be properly implemented.

This follows the launch of a new identity for Wales and West Passenger Trains – formerly South Wales and West Railway Company – created by South West design consultancy Bluestone.
