FutureBrand Worldwide is set to launch a strategic alliance with IBM to handle global e-branding projects.

Although agreements have been signed by all parties in the US, working arrangements have not yet been formalised in Europe, but will be soon, says Charles Trevail, FutureBrand Worldwide chief executive Europe, Middle East and Asia.

“Things are hotting up. The alliance is certainly poised to happen, but at the moment the legal agreements have yet to be signed by all the various parties in Europe,” says Trevail.

Together, the companies plan to build a team of strategy and design specialists in corporate and consumer on-line branding. Trevail is still looking to appoint somebody to head FutureBrand’s centre for Europe, which will be based in London.

“We will be appointing somebody to head that up very shortly – it will probably be someone from FutureBrand,” adds Trevail.

The global alliance will build on IBM Global Services’ relationship with the Coleman Group and its HyperMedia digital branding unit, which are being merged into the FutureBrand network. IBM has more than 300 digital media design staff in the UK.
