CSD’s copyright hotline launch

The Chartered Society of Designers has introduced a hotline service to advise members about questions of copyright and intellectual property.

The telephone service is now up and running, operated in conjunction with patent and trade mark agent Murgitroyd & Co, which will manage the service for the CSD for the next three years.

Plans for a series of seminars on the subject of IP are also being prepared, in order to improve the basic level of knowledge of design professionals.

These will focus on showing members how to recognise IP rights which they might be creating or using, and how to protect them, says a CSD spokesman.

“There are a lot of changes now taking place which designers need to know about. Digital technology industries in particular are affecting intellectual property considerations, and this initiative will help designers greatly,” he says.

Details of the hotline will be related to CSD members this month.
