Scottish & Newcastle pub chain Rat & Parrot has unveiled a “more contemporary” corporate identity, designed by Marketplace as part of a major rebranding of the whole company.

While keeping the feel of the original logo, the new identity has replaced the original illustration with a “more sophisticated and purely typographical solution”, according to a Marketplace spokesman.

New interiors are also being installed in all 58 outlets. These feature updated colour schemes and new furniture designed by Pembroke in conjunction with Scottish & Newcastle’s in-house design team.

Rat & Parrot brand manager Tracy Brown says: “The desire was to evolve the look of the pubs so that they retain their appeal to a broad cross section of the 25-35 age group. That means making them lively, but also comfortable, contemporary and well designed.”
