Quadro to streamline Hong Kong company

Hertfordshire product design and development specialist Quadro Consulting has been appointed by Hong Kong manufacturer IDT Group to create a streamlined system for product design and development.

Quadro recently completed an audit of the international group and will be making recommendations in the new year. The work will continue for 12 months with a range of new procedures being introduced within the company.

IDT’s wide range of products is manufactured under the Oregon Scientific and Huger brand names and marketed in Europe, the US and Asia Pacific regions.

The appointment follows a series of seminars in Hong Kong by Quadro director Phil Gray on behalf of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, to raise the profile of innovation, design and design management in the country among leading industrialists.

This assignment “illustrates how enthusiastic Hong Kong is to introduce best practices in product design”, says Gray. “IDT recognised that it doesn’t have as smooth a process as it would like. Therefore we are creating a whole design process in a slightly more sophisticated way.”

Having carried out similar projects in the past, Gray says the aim is to “create a culture” of what design and development is about. “Companies can’t just have ad-hoc systems as they prevent growth. They need to manage them effectively,” he adds.
