JO: I can see the Longitude phenomenon [Longitude is a book written by Dava Sobel].

QN: I can see those funny snacks. The lettering looks like it is done by the Phileas Fogg packaging designer. It’s almost like Monty Python. It’s done like what the designer thinks lettering used to look like in the 1880s without looking at any.

JO: It’s about travel, it’s about English people travelling in the last century. The ship is where England would be, and the people are standing in Australia.

QN: It’s so awful, the paper is marble-effect. It’s that paper swatch that you always keep coming across, the bathroom toilet paper wrapper.

JO: Elephant skin with Bodoni poster. Nice.

English Passengers

A riotously populated novel that tells of a 19th century voyage to Tasmania.
