The number of vacancies for senior executives in the design industry has risen by 11 per cent in the last year, according to a report by recruitment consultancy MSL Search and Selection.
The survey defines senior executives as board level and one level below and uses a broad definition of design, including engineering and R&D. The data refers to the year ending at the end of June.
Design industry recruitment experts say the figure tallies with their experience over the last year. “[The rise] is largely to do with groups trying to attract good top people. A lot are offering bonuses or profit related schemes and the increased emphasis on design consultancy as a business has created more top management positions,” says Stuart Newman, director of recruitment consultant Network Design.
