Brief

As part of the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Archive of Art and Design project, the Heal’s archive has been catalogued and preserved on-line for posterity. The records date from 1810 and include this poster, designed by RP Gossop in 1928 and called The Way About Heal’s. Minute books, ledgers, stock boxes, press cuttings and artwork also feature in the catalogue. The completion of the project is being celebrated with an exhibition in the V&A’s Link Gallery. From Utility of Prosperity: Changing design at Heal’s from the Thirties to the Fifties runs until the end of next May.
