Store springs up in Taiwan

Four IV Design Consultants has been commissioned to design a five-storey department store in Taiwan for the French chain Printemps. This is Four IV’s biggest single project to date.

Appointed by Taiwanese consultancy and project manager Pinhole International, Four IV is to design all the interiors of the store, right through to the exterior and facia. The job includes a restaurant and a café.

The store, in the Taiwanese city of Taipei, will encompass all the usual department store areas – men’s, women’s and childrens-wear, cosmetics, fragrances and toys. Many international brands will have concessions.

A spokeswoman for Four IV says the design will be biased towards the Taiwanese market rather than clinging to the original French concept. The store is due to open next September.

There was no pitch for the work, although Pinhole International considered US groups. The spokeswoman adds that Four IV’s work for Harvey Nichols and Reiss helped secure the project.
