UK designers pack a punch in ad awards

UK design groups walked away with five packaging accolades at the London International Advertising Awards last week.

Miller Sutherland won two categories, along with Luvly Jubbly Drinks and Conran Bath Range, the latter a joint project with Conran’s buying office.

PI Design’s Fairy Ultra for Procter & Gamble took first prize in the home products section, the pharmaceuticals category was won by Nucleus Design for its Superdrug Woundcare Range, and Pentagram’s Added Value oil range won the automotive products category.

The US picked up nine first prizes and the grand prize, which went to Tennessee group Dye, Van Mol & Lawrence for its Jack Daniel’s Oak-Aged Beer.

Meanwhile, Lyons Ames picked up first prize in the design category at the Packaging Innovation Awards 1996 for the revolutionary condom, Topaz.

And Elmwood was among the winners in the North West Annual Reports Awards for its design of mail order business N Brown Group’s report and accounts.

The entry deadline for the UK Property Marketing and Design Awards is 13 December.
