Interbrand buys again

Interbrand Group has bought Swiss branding and identity specialist Zintzmeyer & Lux for around 9.3m – Interbrand’s second takeover in a month.

“We are committed to becoming the most influential consultancy in the field of branding on a global basis,” says Interbrand chief executive Charles Brymer.

The 70-strong Zintzmeyer & Lux has offices in Bonn, New York and Zurich and has worked on identities for BMW, Swissair, Deutsche Telekom and Lufthansa.

The consultancy will be renamed Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux and its founding partner Jrg Zintzmeyer, who is currently redesigning the Swiss currency, becomes chairman.

The acquisition strengthens Interbrand Group’s corporate branding capability in Europe, where it has traditionally had a weaker presence compared to North America and Asia.

“Interbrand has been on a fantastic journey in the past two years and these acquisitions will help put us at the top of our industry,” says Brymer, who adds: “We are continuing to look for opportunities and partnerships which strengthen us.”

Last month Interbrand Group bought New York packaging design group Gerstman & Meyers (DW 4 October).
