Male grooming on offer at The Refinery

Minale Tattersfield has created the name, identity and interiors for a new male grooming venue in central London, which will provide a range of treatments from around the world.

The Refinery, which is due to open next week, is “a state-of-the-art, one-stop day spa for men designed with even the most macho of men in mind”, says Minale Tattersfield 3D design director Simon Simpson.

“The name has both masculine and cleansing connotations. For many, the word ‘refinery’ would conjure up images of the male-dominated world of heavy industry. But the refining process does not only apply to crude oil. It describes a process to remove impurities or defects which could apply to any good facial,” explains creative director Dimitri Karavias.

The identity which has been applied to signage, towels, bags and stationery, picks up the industrial connotation of the name, using a signature style design.

The Richmond consultancy has created interiors to reflect the intended wide appeal of the venue, using natural durable materials where, Simpson claims, clients will feel “relaxed and revitalised”.
