Brown ID/ KSDP merger deal

Brown ID is to be merged with South Africa-based multidisciplinary design group KSDP, following KSDP’s acquisition by Brown ID’s listed parent company Tempus Group.

The £20m international group will be known as BrownKSDP, and was announced to the Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

BrownKSDP will have an estimated turnover of around £25m and is claimed to be the seventh largest UK-based design group in the world by turnover, with offices across Europe, Africa and Australia. It will have a combined staff of nearly 300 – 200 from the KSDP side – and KSDP London will relocate to Brown ID’s offices in Hampton Wick. The newly-formed multinational consultancy will be incorporated into the Added Value group and continue to work closely with strategic marketing company Added Value, simultaneously acquired last November by Tempus.

Dave Brown, Brown ID founder and chairman, becomes chairman of BrownKSDP and Joe Kieser, KSDP Group founder and chief executive officer becomes chief executive officer. Brown says the cultures of the two merged businesses will work well together.

“We complement each other in geographical terms and enjoy a common client base,” he says.

“Brown ID’s strengths lie in brand identity work and packaging, and we have been growing our corporate identity side. The merger will enhance our expertise in this area,” Brown adds.

Joining Kieser and Brown on the international board will be Brown ID managing director Peter Hollingsworth, and KSDP Johannesburg managing director Kees Schilperoort.

BrownKSDP will have expertise in corporate and brand identity, retail, industrial, product, packaging and interactive design. The merging groups share many clients.
