The Bank of England redesigns the £10 note

The Bank of England has redesigned the £10 note, with a portrait of Charles Darwin replacing the Charles Dickens design introduced in 1992.

Improved anti-counterfeiting features include a red and green fluorescent number ten which is only visible under ultra-violet light, micro-lettering versions of the word and number ten which appear to be a straight line, and a foil hologram which changes from Britannia to the number ten.

The new note, which goes into circulation this week, has been created by the Bank of England’s industrial design and development team, who cannot be named for security reasons, says a spokeswoman for the Bank.
