Bang & Olufsen is launching the Beovision Avant system in the near future. Billed as the first integrated widescreen TV and video system, Avant is designed by British-born freelance David Lewis. Lewis, who has worked for Bang & Olufsen for several years, says the Avant gives the illusion of having a screen suspended on a `wall’. This wall `puts a break between what the viewers want to see – the picture – and what disturbs them – the rear part of the TV set’. Also concealed by the wall design is the video recorder, which can only be detected by the tape slot below the screen.
